Class size: maximum of 6 students
Instructor: Jim Moenck
This is a one day workshop during which we will make a venturi burner style gas forge, single burner model. The body will be approximately 10″ diameter by 12″ deep, made from a round steel tube. It will be insulated with a 1″ blanket of ceramic fiber, coated with a cementuous finish by participants at home after the class. Fire brick will be used for the floor and sliding doors on each end, making it possible to pass the stock through, to heat the center of a work piece. The forge is fastened to a saddle and can be bolted to a table surface for stability. Most of the fabrication for these forges will be done prior to class by the instructor. This forge is a simple, economical forge that is easy to transport and fun to use.
