The location for the Wednesday, February 14 Guild of Metalsmiths membership meeting is at Chicago Avenue Fire Arts Center (CAFAC), 3749 Chicago Ave. Minneapolis, MN.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 pm sharp with our potluck. Please bring a dish to pass. After that the business meeting will commence, followed by show and tell, and then a demonstration to pay special tribute to John Adams, who passed away at his home unexpectedly on January 2, 2018.
In memoriam of longtime Guild member John Adams, Dave Mariette and Myron Hanson will conduct a demonstration of forging a variation of what has come to be referred to as a Fredericks Cross. Members that have a tapmark are encouraged to bring it, and tap the back side of the cross as a personal tribute to John. The cross will be presented to John’s family, who will be in attendance at the meeting.
NOTE: For this meeting we encourage all to utilize onstreet parking on Chicago Avenue north of 39th Street to help facilitate a drop-off area for those members that will require additional accessibility. This includes drop-off of equipment, potluck, large show-n-tell items. Volunteer valets will be on hand to receive items being dropped off.
