October 2014 Membership Meeting

Be sure to mark your calendar for TGoM’s October membership meeting set for Wednesday, Oct. 8 at the Jackson Street Roundhouse/Minnesota Transportation Museum. Nick Heinen is once again champion, and he’s got the details! It’s time to explore most of what the museum has to offer, and to do it on our own time.
The museum has trains from several eras of the railway industry, plus the various chambers that used to be where trains were repaired/restored, one of which is rebuilt to house a forge where some of the demo work will be done. (Part of this has been under way by our own Nick Heinen and Charlie Bateman.) Be sure to check out the unique coat rack forged by Lou Groth also.
To add to that, we will have two members demonstrating. Bob Brown will demonstrate some of his wonderful forgings, and Paul Widenhoefer will demonstrate forging a small working knife, showing us some of what he has learned in his pursuit of bladecraft.
All our membership meetings except the December one start at 6:30 pm with a potluck meal. The business meeting starts at 7 pm, then show and tell, then demonstrations or presentations end our fabulous meetings.
