Inspired by traditional blacksmithing techniques, metal artist Lisa Elias creates elegant functional sculpture. Lisa draws on simple organic forms, including vines and branches to fabricate these works. A linear fluid touch allows her to create a diversity of functional sculpture, from railings, gates and tables to more unusual pieces such as birdbaths and floor lamps. Untrained in formal methods of forged metal fabrication the artist has developed her own unique style. The true power in Lisa's artistry is her ability to harmonize the disparate elements of welded steel and organic forms into graceful sophisticated sculpture.
Lisa Elias has participated in various technical workshops throughout the country. She recently served as a visiting artist in blacksmithing at the School of the Art institue of Chicago's summer program at Ox-Bow in Michigan.
