If you are looking for some tool steel, especially some BIG stuff there is a place out near my neck of the woods you might want to check out.

Starland Metals near Gibbon, MN (about 90 minutes SW of the Minneapolis) has a bunch of 4140, 4142, 4150, S7, D2, A2, and a little O1 of various sizes and want this steel gone. They are offering it for 85 cents a pound which, if you check around, is a pretty darn good price for most these alloys. Those of us who descended on them a few weeks ago pretty much cleared them out of S7 of struck tool sizes. They still have some stuff of interest though, especially for those seeking stump or block anvils. They had some nice pieces of BIG tool steel there. How big? There were some 12" rounds of maybe 3 foot or so long. They had various rectangular and squares as well though not as big as the rounds. See the photos below.

They have saws to cut stuff up for you though cutting service is going to cost you more. How much probably depends on how much of a pain in the butt it is.

There main business is in stainless steel supply and fabrication. They also have some state of the art CNC laser cutting tables that will burn though 1" of mild steel I was especially taken with the stainless and galvanized cabinets they put together. If Santa is reading I really liked the welding supply one:

If you talk to Joel let him know you are from The Guild of Metalsmiths. I don't think it will get you any additional discount but it might earn the Guild some brownie points.
