Green sand molding and aluminum sandcasting

Unread post by Darryl Ponder » Fri Apr 12, 2013 6:02 pm

I saw this video from Common Ground TV today and thought some might be interested. It is all about how to make a sand mold and pour aluminum into it. Jay Johnson is the metalsmith running the foundry.

This is but one of the videos at http://www.lptv.org/commonground which is the website of Lakeland Public Television. They host a series of videos concerning art in Minnesota.

Excellent! That is very similar to what we're doing here except we're using sodium silicate sand instead of green sand. The furnace Jay has looks identical to ours -- the burner is close but a little different. Thanks for sharing this Darryl.
