Just a photo as a graphic reminder of one of the reasons you don't want to get a Mount Vesuvius sized fire going and then dump water on it. At least not if you like that fire pot.

To avoid this problem, at any time you are trying to control your fire size with water, make sure that the blower is blowiing full force and just pour water around the edge of the fire. Also, keep water quantity low, only what you need to control the fire. This works fine for me and I haven't cracked a pot yet.
