Water sprinkling can
I see lots of references to and the necessity of a sprinkling can for water to dampen or wet the coal in the forge. I'm understanding the why but haven't seen an image or description of one. Did I miss one in Search? They sound pretty important so would like to start with a proper one; could someone expand on what's required?

Re: Water sprinkling can
I have made mine out of baked bean cans. When opening them I only cut a half circle out of the top. To do this I cut across the diameter first with a stout knife then use a can opener to cut around the perimeter of one of the halves. After emptying out and eating the beans I'll drill a number of 3/16 of so holes in the remaining half lid. All this lets you either sprinkle water on something or dump it depending on which half you pour out of.
For a handle I'll usually forge most of a circle the circumference of the can or just a tad smaller. With a little tweaking you can get the can in there with a nice friction fit.
I am on the road but will take a couple pictures of mine when I get home.

Re: Water sprinkling can
Here is the watering can holder I made in basics class many years ago. It still gets a workout every forging session.
Just a standard 15oz tin can from the store.

Darryl

Here is a few pictures of mine that better shows what my words were failing at.
