I have made an attempt at casting a Ribbon burner and using it in a small forge. I had success this weekend in it first lighting. I have applied a rigidizer to the ceramic wool and I think I am ready to start doing some work.
Suggestions?

Re: Blown Ribbon Burner forge alive
Hi Ben,
I have no real experience with ribbon burners myself. I know Jim Moenck has played around with making them and I think Ken Zitur might have a ribbon burner forge but I don’t know if he made it. They might be able to make suggestions or answer questions.
How loud is your ribbon burner compared to a standard burner? I have heard some say ribbon burner forges can be much quieter. That would be good for classes, not having to talk over the roar of the forge.

Re: Blown Ribbon Burner forge alive
Hi Martin,
I have used Ken Zitur's propane forges when i took the basic blacksmith class with him. I think this one is similar in noise level. I have not used an atmospheric burner so I cannot say that it is much quieter.
Thanks,
ben
