Hello from Bellarine Peninsula, Victoria, Australia

Unread post by Davidjeng » Fri May 15, 2015 11:46 pm

My name is David, I live in Australia.
I have taught myself basic blacksmiths skills.
I am collecting and making blacksmith tools.
At present no room to put up a blacksmith shed and set things up.
I am trying to put up some pictures but have to re size them.

Cheers,

G'day David!

Great to have a smith from Australia join the web forum.

That's some really good looking equipment you have there. Very nice home made coal forge. Is that a home made propane forge or did you purchase that?

Do you have a group that you belong to there?

Feel free to hang out here, ask any questions you may have and post photos of your works. I look forward to learning about smithing in Australia.

Regards,

Darryl

Hi Darryl,

I purchased the propane forge from USA . I am not too keen on the gas forge. I like to fire up my coal forge.

There are three Blacksmith clubs I know of in Victoria, which I have been to two of them when they staged events.

They are a long way away from where I live and being on limited budget I can not afford to go.

I prefer to make equipment and teach myself. When I get a proper area to set it all up I will make a few more things.

I will keep looking at your website to get ideas and I will try to make a treadle hammer.

Cheers,
David

David,

Gordon Barr is the member that designed the treadle hammer that many in the Guild have here.

I'll put him in touch with you and see if he has some plans he could email you.

Cheers,

Darryl
