Knife for a Nephew

Unread post by Darryl Ponder » Tue Mar 26, 2013 1:42 pm

This is the third knife I made. It, too, is made of OCS (Old Chevy Spring). The scales are walnut.

It rusts after a while and my Nephew sends it back to the "factory" and I polish it up for him. This knife is where I learned that a bright polish is not always a good thing as oil applied to keep it from rusting beads up and rolls off. He keeps a light coat of wax on it instead.

This knife went to Iraq with him and is a hit with his group at Fort Benning, GA.

My nephew always has it with him on hunting trips and it has gutted many deer and feral Georgia hogs.
