Post vise tips

Unread post by bbrown » Tue Feb 12, 2013 6:58 am

A tip that was taught to me by Gordon Williams. Always push down on the vise handle when tightening an object in the vise. As you apply the hard torque, use your body weight to push down. Really helps in a "portable" situation where the vise is not securely mounted. Less chance lifting the whole vise up. Also to loosen the jaws always push down on the handle.

Tip 2- When grabbing an object on one end of the vise jaws. Use a equal dimension spacer on the opposite end of the jaws. Keeping the jaws parallel.
