cross instructions?
Does anyone know if there are instructions somewhere for forging a one piece cross? I think I saw one somewhere, but can't remember where, and have looked through all the publications I have saved.

Re: cross instructions?
I believe you are looking for the "Fredericks" cross, basically you split the stock in half down 3/4 or so (also need to shorten one of the legs, easier to do after forging) , turn the stock 1/4 turn and split from the other direction and overlap the cut , heat and force the longer cuts apart and then force the shorter cuts apart and straighten , not sure on dimensions as its been awhile since ive made one and i usually just wing it, im sure a google search of "fredericks cross" will turn up more details if needed
jim
edit , I think I started with the shorter cuts finish with the longer cut < been awhile ;-)
