A Weekend at Little Log Home Days report from Fran Bauer. The Sixth Annual Little Log Home Days of July 26, 27, 28,1996 in south Hastings was a great time and the weather was beautiful. Claude Siebenaler had the shop running great. He rigged up a giant bellows running off the line shaft. It was the highlight of the weekend and it worked great. Paul Hubler showed up and made countless leafs and gave them to the kids. I still have to smile when I think about the look on their little faces when they received their gift. One little girl came back the next day with the leaf around her neck on a piece of leather. Dick Carlson made the most noise demonstrating hammer making. Dick knows how to work a crowd. Don Welch came by Saturday as did Curt Engstrom with his bride who stayed both days. Curt made a few lovely hooks. Dave Gavin, a part time horseshoer, and his son came by Sunday and made a shoe and some interesting items out of horse shoe nails. A horse even pulled up to the shop, and Dave did some work on her. Myron Hanson drove his old car to the show then hammered all day Saturday. The Little Log Days would like to thank all these people for donating their time and demonstrating the art of blacksmithing to the inquisitive crowd.
