Hello All
I just came across this very informative web site of a large steel forging company who not only supplies REALLY BIG custom forgings but also boasts their website as a super info resource.
The “Industry Reference” section which appears on the right hand side of the main page is a good place to start if you are looking for anything from melting temps to machinability or are just interested in learning in general. I did not know that wrought iron melts at over 2700 degrees…wow. or that babbit melts at 135.
