DESCRIPTION:TGoM membership meeting goes online for Guild members… \nAugust 12 ‘Zoom/YouTube’ TGoM Online Meeting with Demonstration by Brendan Stevans\nMeeting to begin on Zoom at 6:45 pm with the Business Meeting to start at 7:00. \nThis will be a totally online meeting including a live demonstration with Brendan Stevans from his home in Mayer MN. The meeting will start on Zoom with the business meeting and then the demonstration will take place on YouTube. Note that both Zoom and YouTube can be accessed from a computer\, tablet or smartphone. \nZoom:\nTo join the Zoom meeting\, we will be sending out an email to all current Guild members that have email addresses with a link to the meeting. If your membership is not paid up and current\, this is a good time to do that to make sure you get the email. You should not have a login id and password for Zoom to attend this meeting but will have to download a small Zoom program to make it work. Normally you just have to click on the link in the email and follow the prompts. \nYouTube:\nThe main demonstration will take place on YouTube and be a live demonstration. The demonstration will be forging a 2-lb rounding hammer with a power hammer.\nWe will post a link in the Zoom Chat to get to the live demonstration. For YouTube\, you can watch without having a Gmail account\, but if you want to comment in the YouTube Chat\, you will have to have a Gmail account and be logged into YouTube. Brendan’s friend Eric Kerber is helping us out with the video work and will be keeping track of any questions that come in and relaying them to Brendan. Thank you\, Brendan! SUMMARY:TGoM October Membership Meeting 2018
DESCRIPTION:Please join us on Wednesday\, October 10 at Arms and Armor (their workshop) at 1101 Northeast Stinson Boulevard\, Minneapolis\, MN 55413. Christopher Poor and his artisans are always great hosts\, and though we have been there before\, it is always good to see what weapons and armor they are working on currently.\nFor this meeting\, Craig Johnson\, Production Manager\, will do a talk about the construction and making of historical swords and display three from the collection. He will also have slides from a recent visit to the National Archeology Museum in Dublin\, Ireland of period swords and forging tools and discuss their use by craftsmen of the medieval period.\nNote that the moving of the chairs and tables into the building will begin at 4:30. Help if you can. Also note that Broadway to the east of Arms & Armor is under construction and is not passable as this goes out.\nAs always\, potluck dinner starts at 6:30 pm\, with the business meeting beginning at 7:00 pm. Don’t forget to bring your show & tell items. Sharing items and possible demonstrations should commence around 8:00 pm. DESCRIPTION:I hope you all can make it out to the The Guild of Metalsmiths February 10 meeting at Macalester College. Please note that there was going to be a Stainless Steel TIG Welding Demo\, but that has now been changed to a Bronze Pour. A Bronze Pour sounds great to me\, so I’m not complaining. The Bronze Pour is going to be taking place at 7:00 so we are going to have to start the potluck right at 6:30 if not a little bit before. In other words\, don’t be late. I believe we will be having the business meeting after the pour. I want to thank Nick Heinen for being the champion for this event. At the intersection of Snelling Ave S and Grand Ave\, go west on Grand for two blocks to S Macalester St\, go south (left) on Macalester St. Go 3 blocks and take a right into the parking lot.
