DESCRIPTION:Instructors: Rich Herman/Larry Wasmund\nClass size: Maximum students: 10 Minimum students: 4 \nFireplace Tools \nThis class will be a creative class making tools for a fireplace or fire pit. You will create a fire poker\, an ash shovel\, and a hearth broom handle into which you will incorporate a whisk broom. The stock will be 3/8 square stock and there will be many handle choices from coils to twists and bottle openers that may be incorporated into the handles. Come one\, come all\, from beginners to advanced skills. All students get enough materials for three tools and a wall bracket. Time should allow finishing two for sure and most will complete all. \nTools and Equipment or other items participants are to bring to the class: Bring your favorite hammers and tools or use ours. DESCRIPTION:If you have never attended a Hammer-in and are curious about what it is\, here is a primer for you. This is an event held once a year by The Guild of Metalsmiths at the Nowthen Historical Power Association Blacksmith Shop outside Nowthen\, MN. Here is a place that you can come and hang out with a bunch of your old friends\, make new friends\, and share/learn some new skills. Time/Date: 7:30-11:00pm on the evening of Friday\, June 15 and all day June 16 and June 17 from 8am till 4:00 pm Here are some highlights:\n· Camping on-site is available Friday night and Saturday night on primitive sites\n· Five forges are open for use the entire weekend\n· Coal will be provided\n· Beginners welcome\, we will help you discover the joys of pounding hot iron\n· Port-a-potties on site\nBring your own tools if you have them. Some limited steel stock is available\, but if you need specific sizes feel free to bring your own steel\, scrap pieces ok.\nThis year we will have some demonstrations and discussions of cheese slicers in preparation for the contest at this year’s Madness (Fall Conference.)\nQuestions about how to design or build a cheese slicer? What are the different kinds of slicers?
