SUMMARY:Calla Lily Class 2016 is FULL!
DESCRIPTION:Calla lily storyboard \nInstructor: Myron Hanson\nClass size: 8 max.\nProduce at least four people who can make a small Calla lily in less time than it takes the average curious power / steam show visitor to get bored with the process.  It is not Guild policy\, but I would like to emphasize this to people who want to demonstrate for the public. (Become a demonstrator!!!!!!!!!!!)\nThink of this as a class for relatively advanced forgers\, but there is no need for metallurgy.  Wayne Olson was doing well on Armed Forces Day demonstrations in May.\nI’ve shown the story board (Ring of samples really) at several meetings now.  It is a fair representation of the lilies that grow near Larry Britton’s place on the Scenic Hiway North of Hiway 2.  Myron prepared the examples and Myron is lead teacher for this workshop.\nCost is nominal ( $60 ) because we will not be spending a lot on materials. (3/8 Hot roll steel\, coal and nominal rent.)  We will organize room for eight\, and I am not worried about filling the class.  I’ve heard serious interest.\nLunch arrangements: Will be provided!\nBring: your favorite hammer\nSafety equipment: safety glasses\, ear plugs and work gloves are mandatory. SUMMARY:June Membership Meeting 2016
DESCRIPTION:The June 8 Metalsmiths meeting will once again be held at Cliff Larsen’s shop just north of Vermillion\, MN\, at 18190 Fischer Ave\, Hastings\, MN. See map link below. The usual pot luck begins at 6:30 pm\, so bring a dish to pass. The business meeting\, and show (no tell) will happen after that. We are going to forgo the Tell part to give more time for our demonstration.\nDick Carlson is going to be doing an early demonstration of wood burning. This should occur around the 6:00 pm hour.\nThe main demonstration at this meeting will be a 3M Abrasives Demonstration by 3M Employee Mike D‘Andrea. Mike has already done a demonstration for the Clock Makers Guild\, and I have heard it was very good\, so come on out and learn about abrasives.
