Details forth coming and what a way to jam pack a full day! Check the May Forum.\nHot stuff will be happening at the annual Spring Hammer-In taking place at the Nowthen Threshing Show grounds blacksmith shop\, 7415 Old Viking Blvd\, Nowthen\, MN\nThe blind forging competition will return on Saturday afternoon. The goal will be a friendly forge-off. An object is placed inside a box and you must create (forge) the unknown object by what you can feel\, no peeking! Prizes to be announced!\nWe will focus our efforts on the Fall Conference contest: Basic Key FOB’s and advanced leafs and flowers. If you want to work on skills or another project\, that’s ok!\nCome and hang out with a bunch of your friends\, make new friends\, and share/learn some new skills. Beginners/Newbies highly welcome to come and try your hand at smithing.\nCamping on-site is available Friday & Saturday night on primitive sites. Port-a-potties on site. Five forges are open for use. Coal will be provided. I will also bring another forge and anvil for use.\nBring any examples you have to share with others. Bring your own tools if you have them. Some limited steel stock is available\, but if you need specific sizes\, feel free to bring your own steel. Scrap pieces ok. This event will give you inspiration to help you to with your own design for the Fall Conference contest and help you learn how to make it. If you don’t know how to make something\, ask ahead and we will try very hard to accommodate.\nIf you have some skills in the creation of fireplace tools and would like to demo or have any questions about the event\, please contact Wayne Olson\, event champion\, at xxx-xxx-xxxx. DESCRIPTION:Contact Christina Dodge at 612-741-9292 or christina.guildmbr@gmail.com to volunteer for this event. \nThis is open to all Guild members. Also the Nowthen Historical Power Association has their spring tractor pull that Saturday so the grounds will be open for all. We’ll ask Guild members to sign up ahead of time to demonstrate (to make sure we’re fully staffed)\, but we can usually accommodate drop-ins\, too. In the past we have had a sign up sheet at the August Guild meeting and distribute an event pass. No costumes are needed. Forging stations are provided in a covered building that accommodates the public as well as the demonstrators.

This is an event held once a year by The Guild of Metalsmiths at the Nowthen Historical Power Association Blacksmith Shop outside Nowthen\, MN. Here is a place that you can come and hang out with a bunch of your old friends\, make new friends\, and share/learn some new skills. Time/Date: 7:30-11:00pm on the evening of Friday\, June 15 and all day June 16 and June 17 from 8am till 4:00 pm Here are some highlights:\n· Camping on-site is available Friday night and Saturday night on primitive sites\n· Five forges are open for use the entire weekend\n· Coal will be provided\n· Beginners welcome\, we will help you discover the joys of pounding hot iron\n· Port-a-potties on site\nBring your own tools if you have them. Some limited steel stock is available\, but if you need specific sizes feel free to bring your own steel\, scrap pieces ok.\nThis year we will have some demonstrations and discussions of cheese slicers in preparation for the contest at this year’s Madness (Fall Conference.)\nQuestions about how to design or build a cheese slicer? What are the different kinds of slicers? Come and hang out with a bunch of your friends\, make new friends\, and share/learn some new skills.\nBring your own tools if you have them. Bring your own steel\, scrap pieces ok.\nThis year we will have some demonstrations of candle holders in preparation for the contest at this year’s Madness (Fall Conference.)  Questions about how to design or build a candle holder?  This event will hopefully help you. DESCRIPTION:Bring your forge and anvil\, bring a tent\, and let’s pound some iron. Let’s show the public our trade and maybe sell some goods.\nWe’ll have three days of free shop time for any member wanting to forge on a project. Come one\, come all. The fun starts Friday around 12 noon and ends Sunday by 5 PM.\nBring your tools and materials if you have a project in mind. Maybe work on your letter opener for the conference contest.\nMeet us at the Nowthen Threshing Show Grounds June 10th or any time throughout the weekend.
