June 2014 Membership Meeting
June 11, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Host Cliff Larsen promises great demonstrations, great food, and even greater networking as he invites The Guild of Metalsmiths to his farm just north of Vermillion, MN (see map lower right) on Wednesday, June 11. Meet there at 6:30 pm for our great potluck–bring a dish to pass. Cliff and sous chef Peter will be cooking the ever popular “pepper poppers” and something else good on the grill. Then kick back after the 7:00 pm business meeting and enjoy three 20-minute demonstrations by three of our own metal smiths. You’ll watch and learn as:
- Don Hogenson, veteran blacksmith and TGoM member, shows us how to forge handles for roasting sticks
- Dave Gavin demonstrates his unique talent in creating Mokume from coins
- Bob Brown works up a stylized oak leaf
This meeting is also the first where we’ll participate in our own “Iron in the Hat” event. See page one of the May and June Forums for details.
