Open Forge - Free to Guild Members

The Guild of Metalsmiths offers a free "Open Forge" experience to all Guild members on a quarterly basis (you can join on site).

There are eight forges available for our membership to use. There is no lesson or agenda except to get some iron hot and hit it with a hammer. If you just want to stop by and hang out, you are welcome to do so. If there’s space at a forge, have at it. This is an excellent opportunity to hang out with and learn from fellow smiths. Beginners are welcome and there are generally people around that can answer questions or provide assistance.

It's a perfect opportunity for beginning blacksmiths to use our equipment and learn from others.

We ask for pre-registration at this time, but walk-ins are welcome and encouraged - however the "sign up" will give us an idea of what and who to expect. If you just want to stop by and hang out, you are welcome to do so.

Please include your preferred email address in your application. If you do not wish to have your name published, in the members directory, please indicate this in your application. We do not sell our mailing list.

This is a 2-step process - Once you have registered your contact information in the JOIN NOW link and hit SUBMIT, you will be emailed a confirmation email with further instructions about completing your membership. Once you have completed processing your payment and have an active membership, you may return to this page and sign up for any and all OPEN FORGE events of your choice.
