October Guild Meeting Set

September 10, 2011 @ 12:00 am

The October 12 Guild of Metalsmiths membership meeting will be held at the Minnesota Transportation Museum’s Jackson Street Roundhouse 193 Pennsylvania Avenue East, in St. Paul, MN.

The meeting will include a tour of the facility that promises to be a trip through history, featuring local and regional railway history. The Jackson Street Roundhouse is an operating turntable, one of the last of its kind in the country. There are several locomotives and passenger cars in various stages of restoration in the museum shop. Among the locomotives currently undergoing restoration is NP 2156, the featured steam engine on the Casey Jones television show.

Guild members are currently volunteering welding assistance on the restoration of the  Anderson Windows 2110 locomotive. Rumor has it that Bill-The-Welder actually worked on this unit back when it was in service.

For the October 12 meeting, we will meet at the Jackson Street Roundhouse at 6:30 pm for our family potluck. The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm sharp! We thank meeting champion Nick Heinen for arranging details.
